Effects of chronic intermittent hypoxia on the hemodynamics of systemic circulation in rats.
We examined the effects of chronic intermittent hypoxia (IH) on the hemodynamics of systemic circulation in rat. Chronic IH has no effect on the hemodynamics in the normoxia condition, but it could effectively prevent the fall of hemodynamics during acute hypoxia.
متن کاملHypoxia and the pulmonary circulation.
The first description of the effects of hypoxia on the pulmonary circulation was made by Bradford and Dean in the UK exactly 100 years ago.' However, scientific interest in this field only began with the discovery of hypoxic pulmonary vasoconstriction in the cat by von Euler and Liljestrand2 in 1946, and in man a year later in Andre Coumand's laboratory.3 Despite extensive research in this fiel...
متن کاملEffects of hypoxia on the closing pressure of the canine systemic arterial circulation.
We studied the relationships among closing pressure (Pc) and indices of systemic arterial resistance (Ra) and compliance (Ca) during hypoxic hypoxia (HH) and carbon monoxide hypoxia (COH) in anesthetized dogs with cardiac bypass and constant ventilation. Closing pressure was measured as the lowest level to which arterial pressure (Pa) fell after inflow to the arterial bed was reduced suddenly t...

J Appl Physiol 98: 715–721, 2005; doi:10.1152/japplphysiol.00840.2004.—Data are rapidly accumulating in support of the idea that circulating monocytes and/or mononuclear fibrocytes are recruited to the pulmonary circulation of chronically hypoxic animals and that these cells ...
متن کاملHuman hepatic blood flow and its relation to systemic circulation during intravenous infusion of lidocaine.
Twelve healthy young volunteers were studied before and during intravenous administration of lidocaine at a dose rate of 2 or 4 mg/min. Five additional volunteers, who did not receive lidocaine solution but were given the same amount of physiological saline, were studied in the same manner. Heart rate, cardiac output, mean arterial blood pressure, mean right atrial blood pressure, estimated hep...
